Minecraft has been around for a considerable time now and its popularity is growing. However since its release on November 18 2011 more and more servers were added, removed, and lost. Over the past 12 years, Minecraft has had four servers. Some were filled with chaos and drama while others were a peaceful haven for friends.

DONALD, Australia, June 8, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --

Position 1 - Novylen

Date of Creation Date of Creation: April 9, 2010.

Created by Rbos

Address: minecraft.novylen.net

The Novylen Minecraft Server located in Canada has the official title of the oldest Minecraft Server ever built, on the 9th day of April, 2010, 4 months prior to the previous server, MinecraftOnline. But if you read previously, you'd notice that MinecraftOnline was released the same day multiplayer was created which is why Novylen established earlier than this?

While the server was first introduced on the day of Minecraft Multiplayer's release the map was built far earlier, as rbos, the owner, originally played the map on his singleplayer world way back in Minecraft's InfDev period (specifically InfDev 20100413), 4 months before the release of Minecraft Multiplayer. To top it off the server has not ever been reset, which means the player could have hopped on 10 years ago, constructed something, and left forever and their work being the sole evidence of their existence. Novylen is far less popular than 2b2t. This means it hasn’t been subject to the same fate as many other griefs, exploits hackers, glitches, and other. Many of the original designs from 2010 are still in use today.

Position 2 - Nerd.nu

Date of Creation Date of Creation: June 10, 2009. *

Created by: (unknown); Current Head Administrators: defiex. fazaden. pez252.

Address: nerd.nu

Nerd.nu was launched for the first time on June 10, 2009, which was three days following Minecraft's unofficial Multiplayer release, Version 0.0.16a. It was so early in Minecraft that survival mode was not a feature in the game at the time. As you can see in the image above, a variety of designs from different eras of Minecraft have been built on Nerd.nu. There have been numerous game modes added to the server over the years. The most well-known and longest-running is the 'Creative' game mode that allows players to fly and create whatever they want.

Although the server was created in the early stages of the game, some believe that MinecraftOnline is older than it, due to the map being repeatedly reset, meaning it's not really the same world as it was a few years ago. The Creative game mode by Nerd.nu is currently in its 36th revision. It has been reset 35 times before.

In light of the server resets mentioned earlier the decision was made that Nerd.nu cannot be considered as the oldest server, since the world it's in is still relatively new. Position 3 - MinecraftOnline Date of Creation August 4, 2010 Created By: SlowRiot

Address: MinecraftOnline.com

MinecraftOnline was launched on the 4th of August, 2010, and has been in operation since then. It was created within an hour of Notch releasing survival mode. Amazingly, the server has remained active and hasn't been reset since. But why does it not look like the conglomerate of cobblestone that 2b2t is?

It's amazing that MinecraftOnline has had a staff team since it's inception, and unlike 2b2t, MinecraftOnline has rules that players have to follow. That doesn't always mean players adhere to the rules however during the 12 years it's been operating, more than 43,000 players have been banned. That's not the only surprising aspect of it, as the size of the world (remember that it's never reset) has reached an astounding 26GB of storage space, just one world.

Position 4 - 2b2t (2builders2tools)

Address: 2b2t.org

Date of Creation: 1st December 2010 *

2b2t is one of the most popular Minecraft servers. MC LIST Since it's founding at the end of December 2010 2b2t has been notorious as an anarchy-based server, with a severe lacking of rules, thousands of players roaming with hacked clients, in a lack of respect and a distinct and beaten-up terrain. The server's most famous feature is its map. It has not been updated since it was established. This means that many players have departed over time, leaving their mark on the server.

In it's early days, 2b2t had a steady flow of players, fluctuating between 10 and 80 over the course of time. This changed in June 2016 though, as popular YouTuber TheCampingRusher uploaded his first video. Since then, countless other YouTubers have uploaded videos to the server, making 2b2t it's popularity known today. The server had over 1000 users at peak times in 2022 and it's unlikely the number will fall anytime soon.

In conclusion, along with these servers, a lot of other servers also date back to the year 2011. Not all servers have been around for this long

Today, when Minecraft is gaining popularity, it's not all about history. Minecraft Server Lists have existed since this time and show some of the most popular Minecraft servers around. Server lists (or server databank) is a list of information about servers. It typically contains information such as a server's name the IP address, name, and ports.
