We have witnessed a rise in videogames that use the creation of content in game as their primary mode of play. While there are books that have looked at a variety of aspects of these games, it is important to explore the potential ways to make money that be derived from their context. Our ethnographic study revealed a vibrant market for commissioning within Minecraft's creative community. Our findings point out the three principal players in this market: the clients, who are the owners of Minecraft servers; the contractors, who manage the client's requests for Minecraft maps and the builders who are the ones responsible for the creation of these maps. Our research has proven that the product in question is not the game's content, as one would expect however, it is the process of creating it. These results suggest that commissioning in Minecraft is a well-organized process, initiated and sustained only by members of the game's community - plays a significant part in the current game's structure. Moreover they challenge the notion that content generation in gaming environments is free labor that is exploited by the game's creators. minecraft skins
