The Tate Gallery is going to exhibit some of its most famous works in 3D form, set in the virtual world of the computer game Minecraft.

It has joined forces with the creators of Minecraft - an online computer game in which millions of players meticulously build fantasy worlds block by block to create 3D versions of two of its paintings, in a new virtual gallery.

On Monday, the first two of eight Minecraft images will be available to download. 4com

Dougal Shaw, BBC Technology reporter, examined the 3D Minecraft version of Andre Derain’s The Pool of London (1906).
