The manga and anime series of the Demon Slayer are both in between seasons, but the franchise is still wildly popular. The latest Blu-ray release is an opportunity for Aniplex to try its hand at the English-language market. With more than 10 million copies sold, the anime has now become a worldwide phenomenon. The story follows the journey of Tanjiro and his friends to become members of the Demon Slayer Corps. The title was decided upon by Gotouge and Katayama. Gotouge wanted to call the manga "Kisatsu no Yaiba" (Demon Slayer in Japanese), but Katayama thought it was too dark for the manga readers. Katayama decided to borrow the character "kimetsu," which is a word which means "to perish". The result is "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba."

In the first season, Rui is Tanjiro's most terrifying opponent. A Lower-rank demon, Rui is unforgiving and dangerous. He was rejected by his human parents when he was a child, and has since been trying to recreate a family for himself. Although he is not one of the Twelve Kizuki, Rui's physique and power make him an excellent demon fighter. He can also transform into different forms and appearances.

The "Demon Slayer" manga was first published in 2013 and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. When the anime premiered in Japan in 2019, it was already one of the biggest selling manga series in history. And the anime was so popular that it is set to topple all previous Japanese anime.
